The Virtues of Night Prayer
The virtues of Qiyamul Layl are many, during the lifetime of Prophet (pbuh), he was known to stand for many nights in prayer, so much so that his feet would swell. And Allah (swt) says, 'Only those people believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded of them, fall in prostration and pronounce the purity and praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.

Imam Yahya was born in Oklahoma City, USA and accepted Islam in 1998. In 2005 he was recruited by the Islam Presentation Committee in Kuwait to work as the head of the English Da'wa Department. While in Kuwait, he attained a diploma from the institute for Islamic Studies. In 2008 he finished his memorisation of the Qur'an and attained an Ijazah that puts his name on a list of 29 other people who are in the chain of narration of the Qur'an based on memorisation and recitation of the Qur'an by Hafs.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days [Bukhari]

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity or hatred of others make you deviate from justice. Act justly as that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is well-acquainted with what you do. [Al Quran 5:8]

'O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that perhaps you may attain God Consciousness.' (Al Quran 2:183) This month is a month of connection, correction and direction.

Sufyaan ibn `Abdillaah (ra) said: "Messenger of Allah, tell me something about Islam, which I cannot ask anyone else besides you." The Prophet (pbuh) replied: "Say: 'I believe in Allah' and then remain steadfast upon that." [Saheeh Muslim]

The Quranic standards of equality in justice transcend considerations of race, religion, color, and creed, as Muslims are commanded to be just to their friends and foes alike, and to be just in all spheres of their lives. So the Qur'an demands that justice be met for all, and that it is an inherent right of all human beings under Islamic Law. The opeing chapter of the Qur'an is named Al-Fatiha, it reads: All praises and thanks are for Allah the Lord of the Universe. The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Recompense. You Alone we worship, and You Alone we ask for help. Guide us upon the Straight Path. The Path of those on whom You have bestowed your grace, not the Path of those who earned your Anger, nor of those that went astray. Muslims repeat this phrase 'Ihdinasi r'atal Mustaqueem' or Guide us upon the Straight Path, many times during their daily prayers. O Prophet! Truly We have sent thee as a Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings, and Warner. And as one who invites to Allah's (Grace) by His leave, and as a lamp spreading light. (Al-Quran 33:45-46) The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is described not as a lamp generating its own light, but as 'sirajan muneeran', a lamp given the Light of Allah to guide His servants to what is good and right. Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) was not the source of this light as the Quran atests that 'Allah is the the Light of the heavens and the earth' (Al-Quran 24:35), the Prophet was the lamp that spread and radiated this light to his fellow human-beings. Once certainty is firmly rooted in the heart, it bears the fruit of true and sincere reliance on Allah, at time of ease and hardship. "And to Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him and put your trust in Him. In a well-loved hadith, the Prophet (PBUH) is reported to have said, "Paradise lies at the feet of mothers." Another hadith reports that a man asked the Prophet (pbuh), "Who is most worthy of my love and respect?" The Prophet (pbuh) replied, "Your mother." The man asked, "And then who?" The Prophet (pbuh) again answered, "Your mother." The man asked one more time and received the same answer. When the man asked the question a fourth time, the Prophet (pbuh) answered, "Your father."
