End the Suffering: Call for a Ceasefire

Wednesday 1st Nov 2023: In light of the ever deteriorating and appalling situation in Gaza, with thousands of innocent, defenceless civilians killed and injured, WLIC has written to all London Borough of Ealing's parliamentarians and councillors. Outlining key sentiments and concerns from within our community, we are calling on them to take action and demand an immediate ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors, anything less would be deemed unacceptable.

We would like to express our thanks to all members of our community, who have so far helped raise over £65,000 in 3 weeks for the WLIC Gaza Appeal. Donations can still be made in the office or online. We must continue to do everything within our capacity, to stand in peaceful solidarity with the oppressed, to promote justice and foster understanding between communities.

This year’s Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM), which began in November, therefore carries a more profound importance - as expressed by the MCB, it challenges the very types of demonisation of the Palestinians and Muslims that underpins Gaza's unfolding catastrophe. We invite the community to participate in IAM’s programmes.

'We have recorded the fate of every human being; it is tied to his neck. On the Day of Resurrection we will hand him a record that is accessible. Read your own record. Today, you suffice as your own reckoner. Whoever is guided, is guided for his own good, and whoever goes astray does so to his own detriment. No person will bear the sins of anyone else.' [Al-Qur'an 17:13-15]
