UK Islamic Mission
The UK Islamic Mission has been engaged in voluntary community service since its founding in 1962. As one of the UK’s oldest Muslim institutions, its 50 branches and national executive are recognised for their all-embracing dedication to the welfare of British Muslims and our wider community.
Its membership promotes and works towards a dynamic five-point programme, consisting of; educating the community via its Mosques and madrasas; dawah and interfaith discourse; publishing literature on Islam; providing international relief and welfare for the poor and needy; providing provisions and activities for youth and sisters.
The UKIM constitution stipulates its objective, ‘To help foster and advance a morally upstanding, modest, united, chaste, religiously God conscious and peaceful society’.
To achieve its constitutional aims UKIM endeavours to:
- To Present and exemplify the Islamic way of life as defined and prescribed by Allah (swt) in the Qur'an, the Sunnah or example of the final Prophet (pbuh) and as practiced by his Companions (ra).
- To promote and encourage mutual appreciation and friendly relations between Muslims and non-Muslims.
- To work closely with local, regional and national voluntary and public sector organisations to deliver projects focused on welfare, health awareness, youth development, community chaplaincy, improving employment and social justice.
- To strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among the Muslim community.
- To help the Muslim community prtect and preserve its British Muslim and Islamic identity.
- To co-ordinate the activities of UKIM with other organisations working for the cause and sake of Islam.
