Project Campaign 2025

WLIC needs your support to raise the funds needed to open its brand new ‘Boxing Gym & Fitness Centre’. Donate here.

Our History

Established in 1997, the WLIC Boxing Gym was one of the first training facilities in the UK to be located inside a Masjid, the UKIM West London Islamic Centre in Ealing. After 20 years of community service, with thousands of youth and adults having passed through its doors, the WLIC Boxing Gym closed in September 2017, in preperation for the demolition and redevelopment of the Masjid.

At the time of its closure in 2017, one of our boxing instructors commented;

‘A special thanks to the Masjid, which had the foresight over 20 years ago to appreciate the importance of having a gym within the Mosque and the crucial role it went on to play in bringing our youth together, within an Islamic ethos. It was that decision, support and the dedication of our training team, that helped countless young people from disparate backgrounds change their lives in a positive way. From children who had troubled backgrounds, to some who were bullied in school and those who had no direction or discipline. They all benefited, and we look forward to a new chapter when the Mosque is rebuilt, Insha’Allah.’

The New Boxing Gym & Fitness Centre

Alhamdu’Lillah, by the Grace and Permission of Allah (swt), the new centre upper education, welfare and banquet floors (see below) are nearing completion, and if the funds can be raised in time, the administration has approved the new, partial completion of the 4th floor ‘WLIC Boxing Gym & Fitness Centre’.

Good health and self-protection are considered religious obligations in Islam, all the more with hostility and prejudice against Muslims on the rise. As before, the not for profit, Boxing Gym & Fitness Centre will welcome everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim.
